What we do

Epigenes Australia is a private research company with a unique focus on how the environment impacts biology - including behaviour - at the individual and societal levels. Environmental factors of particular interest include calorie restriction, social interaction, and stress. By identifying changes that are invoked by environmental factors in different species, we seek to understand what makes us unique as individuals and how collectively this shapes societies.

Epigenes Australia seeks to achieve these research objectives by conducting thorough and evolving research programs that facilitate fundamental cross-disciplinary research into the field of behavioural neuroscience, psychology, genomics, biochemistry, and ecology. Ultimately, the insights we derive from these findings will be used to improve the health of individuals and societies.

Our research program is embedded at La Trobe University (LTU) in Bundoora. We employ staff directly through LTU and Epigenes Australia staff have adjunct positions with LTU. Apart from providing office and laboratory space, LTU allows us to access world-class platforms including Genomics, Proteomics, and Metabolomics and the Animal Research and Teaching Facility.
